[Recovery] Network Performance Issues

The connectivity issues with FAU’s ISP have been resolved and the network including connectivity to the internet should be operating at normal capacity at this time.

Network Notice – Degraded Internet Performance

FAU’s primary internet connection is unavailable due to a possible fiber cut beyond FAU’s control. FAU is currently operating over a slower, secondary connection. All services are currently available, but network speeds to the internet will be slower than normal until FAU’s primary internet connection is restored.

Network Maintenance – Wednesday June 22nd from 6:00 a.m. until 6:30 a.m.

OIT will be performing potentially intrusive network maintenance tomorrow morning from 6:00 a.m. until 6:30 a.m.  During this time, there may be a brief interruption of network connectivity on the Boca Raton campus lasting approximately 30 seconds.

Network Maintenance – Sunday 6/19 from 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m.

OIT will be performing maintenance on the core Boca network tomorrow, Sunday June 19th from 5:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. During this time, sporadic connectivity loss will occur on the Boca campus during the maintenance window. Interruptions are expected to be brief and last only a couple of minutes.

Network Maintenance – Tuesday 12/22/2015 from 5:00 a.m. until 5:30 a.m.

OIT will be performing maintenance on the core network on the Boca campus from 5:00 a.m. until 5:30 a.m. During this time, most services on the Boca campus will experience a service interruption lasting approximately 15 minutes. Connectivity to and from the internet for most users will not be affected during the maintenance.

[RESOLVED] FAU Experiencing Degraded Internet Performance

FAU’s primary connection to the internet was restored at 7:00 this morning. The degraded internet performance issues have now been resolved and all services are expected to be running at normal speeds.

[UPDATE] FAU Experiencing Degraded Internet Performance

Our service provider has informed us that restoration of services will begin around midnight tonight lasting until morning. We do not have a specific ETA for resolution.  Until the expected restoration of our primary internet link in the early morning hours, we will continue to have degraded performance to all services from off-campus and from FAU to the internet.

FAU Experiencing Degraded Internet Performance

FAU is currently experiencing an outage of its primary connection to the internet. While all traffic has switched over to a backup connection and all services are available, users will experience decreased speeds to the internet until the issue is resolved. Our service provider is aware of the issue and working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Emergency Network Maintenance – 3:45 a.m.

We will be performing emergency network maintenance 3:45 a.m. in order to resolve the instability in the network. While this maintenance is underway, most services hosted on the Boca Raton campus including Blackboard will be unavailable.  We anticipate downtime to last approximately 15 minutes with services available shortly after 4:00 a.m.

Network Interruption 1:00a.m. 10/2/2015

The FAU network encountered a momentary network interruption around 1:00a.m. this morning.  This interruption lasted a couple of minutes while traffic routed around to to redundant systems. During this brief time, access to services including Blackboard may have been impacted. We are currently working with our vendors to identify the root cause of the service disruption.
