OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. Oct 17 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 10/17/2019 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Delayed BHRIC Upgrade
Description of change:  ​Upgrade the Biomedical Research Informatic’s Cores Virtual  Infrastructure to ​​the latest versions.
Downtime window start: 8:00 PM (10/16)
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: BHRIC Virtual Desktop Infrastructure​
Expected End-user impact: Vmware View will lose access to vCenter during this process and users will be unable to spawn suspended or powered offed virtual machines.

BHRIC Virtualization Upgrade
Description of change: OIT will be applying patches on the BHRIC server environment
Downtime window start: 2:00 AM
Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: BRHIC VDI
Expected End-user impact: Most virtual desktops will be suspended starting at 2 am. So users accessing the cluster from 2 am to 6 am will need to wait while for their VM to start again should they wish to use it. Users will also need to wait slightly when they connect in the morning as most services will be suspended.

Expected End-user impact: During this time, no end-user impact is expected.

Spam Filter Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be updating the firmware for its spam filter appliances.
Downtime window start: 3:00 AM
Downtime window end: 4:00 AM
Affected services: Inbound FAU email smtp.fau.edu

Expected End-user impact: Email delivery may be delayed for inbound mail. The client may receive an error when sending mail to smtp.fau.edu during the change window.

BANNER XE DB Upgrade 9.17.0 release and co-requisite releases
Description of change: Production Support will be promoting and installing the next version upgrade of the BANNER XE system and all of the updated versions of the Banner XE modules it supports
Downtime window start: 3:00 AM
Downtime window end: 7:00 AM
Affected services: BANNER XE system
Expected End-user impact: The Banner system will be brought down during the actual installation of the code.

Description of change: This is a new feature where Transient Students who have fulfilled their Immunization requirement at their home school will automatically have their Immunization (IM) hold released.

Banner job scheduling
Description of change: Update SSL certificate Appworx uses to communicate between the Java client and server. The latest version of Java is causing SSL errors with the client’s built in certificate.

Downtime window end: 6:00 AM
Affected services: Appworx production
Expected End-user impact: The Appworx master/master’s agent will need to be restarted to pick up the changes.​
