Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 01/04/2018 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Server Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be making some changes on our main proxy server (octopus.fau.edu), two internal DNS servers (dnsboc0, dnsboc1), two time servers (ntp1, ntp2) and DHCP servers to allow for future network optimizations.
Downtime window start: 4:00 AM
Downtime window end: 5:30 AM
Affected services: Any OIT or other departmental servers residing on internal 10.x FAU networks that rely on octopus.fau.edu as the proxy server to connect to the outside internet. Any internal clients relying on dnsboc0 or dnsboc1 to resolve DNS entries. Any internal clients relying on ntp1 and ntp2 for time synchronization. Any internal clients attempting to obtain a DHCP IP during the moment of maintenance
Affected systems: octopus.fau.edu, ntp1, ntp2, dnsboc0, dnsboc1, dhcpboc0, dhcpboc1
Expected End-user impact: During this time, there will be intermittent loss of connectivity on the Boca campus to the outside for servers and services that rely on octopus.fau.edu. Intermittent loss of connectivity on Boca campus to the internal and external sites due to clients not being able to resolve DNS. Intermittent loss of time synchronization abilities on Boca campus. Intermittent loss of ability to obtain an IP on Boca campus due to DHCP servers being down.
