The switch upgrade in MC-02, Administration, Jupiter has been completed.

Network connectivity has been restored.

Starting Thursday, August 18, after 6 a.m. EST, when you attempt to access MyFAU, you will be prompted to set up a new set of questions and answers that will help you reset your own password if you forget or lose it.

Since MyFAU is part of the FAU universal login (single username and single password) system, this tool will also reset your network, wireless, Blackboard, and email passwords.

This new update will help make the password reset process easier and more user friendly.

• There will now be five pairs of questions and answers. You must supply three of the questions yourself.
• The answers are no longer case or whitespace sensitive.
  For example, the system will now recognize your answer as correct whether you supply “myPassword” or “My Password”.
• When initiating a password reset process by clicking on the “Forgot Your Password?” link on the MyFAU login page, you will be prompted to answer three random questions out of the five established.  All three must be answered correctly for you to be allowed to change your password.

You no longer have to call the Help Desk for a reset! The power is all yours!

Northern Computing Services will be performing a switch upgrade on August 18, 2011.

Buildings effected: Jupiter – Administration AD (MC-02).

There will be no network connectivity wired or wireless between the hours of 5pm and 12am. Phone service will not be effected.

IRM will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deem necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 08/18/2011 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during IRM maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

When: 5:00 AM – 6:00 AM
Affected Services: MyFAU
Description of Maintenance: New settings for the Self Password Reset Process will be put in place. When a user logs into MyFAU after 6:00 AM on Thursday, they will be prompted to set up a new set of questions and answers to help with future password recovery when needed. The main new features are:

• 5 questions and answers.
• You can supply your own questions for 3 out of the 5.
• The answers will now be case insensitive as well as white space insensitive.
• When initiating a password reset by clicking the “Forgot Your Password?” link on the MyFAU login page, you will be prompted to answer 3 random questions out of the 5 established. All 3 must be answered correctly to be allowed to change your password.

Description of Maintenance: We will be restarting and applying several patches to Blackboard which will result in improved SafeAssign performance and correct several problems with assessments. ————————————–

Description of Maintenance: CAS will be configured to trust authentication from MyFAU’s CAS server and ECollege’s production authentication code will be enabled. SSO.FAU.EDU may become unavailable during between 3:00 AM and 4:00 AM.

Description of Maintenance: All Middleware servers running Windows 2008R2 will be upgraded to the latest service pack.

Description of Maintenance: Identity Manager will be connected to Banner for the purpose of importing directory information for employees. We will also be enabling replacements for two failed servers during this time. There will be no down time due to this change.

Affected Services: Broadcast.fau.edu, used by the College of Business to provide authentication on videos
Affected Systems: broadcast1.fau.edu, broadcast2.fau.edu
Description of Maintenance: The College of Business has discovered a problem when authenticating clients to video downloads. To correct the issue we must allow the two servers which provide this service to share their session information. This will require a brief period of down time at 4am.

Broward Computing Services (BCS) in conjunction with Network Security has performed the following upgrade(s)

* Description: Move DHCP (IP assignments) to new registration system for Davie faculty & staff.

* System(s) Affected: FACULTY & STAFF may receive a registration Web page when a client connects to the Internet.

* Downtime: No downtime anticipated.

Network registration is now in effect for all computers on the Davie campus.
