OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. April 15 from 12:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 04/15/2021 from 12:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Affected services: ​BANNER 8X/XE
Expected End-user impact: The Banner system will be unavailable during the installation of the new codes/patches.

Downtime window end 4/15/2021 4:00 AM
Affected services: Inbound FAU email, smtp.fau.edu
Expected End-user impact: Email delivery may be delayed for inbound mail. Clients may receive an error when sending mail to smtp.fau.edu during the change window.

Telecommunications maintenance – April 9 – 12

Communication Infrastructure will be performing emergency maintenance to the Telecommunications and Voice servers between 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9 and 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021.  Additional maintenance will take place between 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 11 and 1:00 a.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021.

During the maintenance window, there may be a 5 minute disruption to the campus voice, voicemail, and telephone networks.

WebEx and Single Sign-on Maintenance
Downtime window start: 4/8/2021 6:30 AM
Downtime window end: 4/8/2021 7:00 AM
Affected services: ​WebEx and Single sign-on (SSO)
Expected End-user impact: ​The SSO services will be restarted one server at a time so users may experience session errors during this time. WebEx sign-on may experience sign-on issue during this time while the certificate is swapped out.

[Resolved] Zoom: Live transcription services are unavailable

Zoom has resolved the issue causing users to be unable to use Live Transcription services within Zoom Meetings.

Zoom: Live transcription services are unavailable

Zoom has received reports of users being unable to utilize Live Transcription services within Zoom Meetings. Cloud Recording transcriptions are not impacted. Zoom is currently investigating and will provide updates as they have them.

[Resolved] – Cisco Webex Connection through Canvas is currently unavailable

UPDATE:

Users should now be able to access their Webex sessions from within Canvas

User are currently experiencing issues connecting to Webex from within in Canvas.

Webex is aware of the issue and is currently implementing a fix, however, there has not been a timeline of when this will be resolved. In the meantime, webex users can access webex by going directly to https://fau.webex.com and if sharing the webex link with students is required, please follow these instructions.

Zoom – A subset of users are unable to join meetings/webinars

Zoom has seen increased error reports while joining meetings/webinars on the US east coast and is investigating

[RESOLVED] Page errors when attempting to access Canvas

UPDATE:

#2 Canvas should now be operational. A fix was applied and is currently being monitored. (10:25 AM est)

#1 Canvas has identified the issue and applying a fix. (9:07 AM est)


When trying to access Canvas, users may get a 504 Gateway Time-Out error.

This has been reported to Canvas and they are currently investigating the issue.

In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Website Maintenance
Downtime window start: 3/25/2021 3:30 AM
Downtime window end: 3/25/2021 7:00 AM
Affected services: ​External DNS services in the global traffic manager subdomain. This covers almost all of public facing websites managed by OIT and external and internal websites hosted on the load balancers.
Expected End-user impact: Users may experience momentary disruption of persistent connections to affected sites. Users may need to reconnect to services that they were previously logged into. For non-persistent connections and general web browsing (e.g. the main www.fau.edu), end users may not experience any disruptions.
