OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. May 7 from 12:01AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 05/07/2015 from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Blackboard Upgrade
When: 12:01AM – 7:00AM
Affected services: Blackboard
Affected systems: Blackboard
Description of maintenance: OIT is upgrading Blackboard to the latest version.
User impact: Blackboard will be unavailable between the hours of 12:00 AM and 7:00 AM

PGP Encryption software update
When: 12:01AM – 1:00AM
Affected services: PGP Encryption
Affected systems: bocsec.fau.edu
Description of maintenance: OIT is installing a new version of PGP software (3.3.2mp8) server side
User impact: PGP users may be prompted to update your software to the latest version upon login.

Affected systems: Banner Financial Aid
Description of maintenance: OIT is updating two procedures to update Financial Aid attendance for Summer 2015.

Blackboard CAS (Single Sign On) Upgrade
When: 3:00AM – 5:00AM
Affected services: CAS – Single Sign On
Affected systems: cas1 and cas2
Description of maintenance: We are adding a custom login page for Blackboard
User impact: The availability of Single Sign On intermittent during the upgrade. Users will be presented with a new Blackboard login page when accessing Blackboard.

Description of maintenance: OIT is upgrading the edition of the OIT SQL cluster from Standard to Enterprise
User impact: Applications connecting to these databases may become unresponsive.

Remove Library printers from Boc22pcprt01 and delete associated PaperCut queues.
When: 4:00AM – 7:00AM
Affected services: PaperCut.
Affected systems: Boc22pcprt01, Boc22pcapp01, Boc22pcapp02
Description of maintenance: The printers were moved to a dedicated Library print server and the old ones paused on Boc22pcprt01. Library staff has confirmed that everything is working fine, so the old printers will be removed from Boc22pcprt01 and PaperCut.
User impact: No end-user impact is expected

High Performance Computing (HPC) – Slurm Upgrade & BLCR software install
When: 6:00AM – 6:30AM
Affected services: High perfomance computing – Koko
Affected systems: Koko
Description of maintenance: OIT is upgrading the Slurm packages and installation of BLCR software on Koko
User impact: No end-user impact is expected

The Networking department will be performing maintenance on Wednesday, May 6 and Friday, May 8 from 12:01 a.m. through 6:00 a.m. Due to the nature of the maintenance, users may experience intermittent network outages lasting approximately 10 – 15 minutes during this window. This outage will affect connectivity to the Internet as well as connectivity within FAU.

New Account Information Emails

We are receiving many reports of users receiving emails with the subject “Account Information” and with a from address of “donotreply@oracle.com”. These emails are being generated inadvertently by a system on the FAU campus and should be disregarded. These are not phishing scams and your information is not at risk. We are working to stop the transmission of these emails.

An example of one of the emails is below:

Network outage in buildings T-10 and T-11 on Boca Raton campus

Phone Billing system upgrade (Verasmart)
When: 12:00AM – 3:00AM
Affected services: Phone billing
Affected systems: boc22comm1
Description of maintenance: Upgrading phone billing software (Verasmart) from version 10.5.1_sp4 (build 189.13.4) to version 10.6_sp5
User impact: During upgrade users will not be able to view their billing information

Affected services: Email send to users @hboi.fau.edu

Description of maintenance: HBOI will be transfering authority of their @hboi.fau.edu domain for email purposes to the FAU email system.
User impact: Email sent to users @hboi.fau.edu will go to those user’s FAU Exchange accounts

User impact: Backups will be unavailable during the move

Description of maintenance: OIT will be migrating the file share used by Tech Runway
User impact: The FSS fileshare will be unavailable during the migration. The share path will be changed to \\fauandi1.fau.edu\fss
