[Resolved] Cisco Webex LTI Outage in Canvas

The Cisco Webex tool in Canvas is now back up and operational. Students and Faculty should be able to access their scheduled Webex sessions through Canvas again.

Students and teachers trying to access the Cisco Webex tool in their Canvas courses are currently receiving a “502 Bad Gateway” error. For the time being, teachers that are holding Webex meetings at this time should find the direct meeting links for their sessions and send them to students who have trouble joining.

OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. Sept 3 from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 09/03/2020 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Single Sign On Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will update single sign on (SSO) to improve usability.
Downtime window start: 9/3/2020 6:00 AM
Downtime window end: 9/3/2020 6:30 AM
Affected services: Login Captive Portal and all SSO client services
Expected End-user impact: During this time, SSO will be unavailable and error for ~5 minutes. ​

Address Verification 4P prompt and button
Description of change: New address verification 4P prompt that directs registered students to the personal information app. Then a new “Verify” button on the personal information app that appears once a semester until a student verifies their physical location. This in response to new federal regulation that went into effect July 1st to get location of students studying remotely. ​

Expected End-user impact: During this time, all registered students will be required to verify their address on file is correct after 4 logins to SSO via 4P prompt. Must hit verify button.

Description of change: OIT will be upgrading the hardware and operating system of one of its servers.​

Expected End-user impact: During this time, the squid http proxy will be unavailable.

Frevvo ANDI File Connector Upgrade
Description of change: OIT will apply a service patch for the Forms Secure File Server. This is adding on to the BHRIC Tomcat update already approved in an effort to homogenize systems maintenance by getting both servers on the same version of Tomcat.

Affected services: ​Forms that require secure file submission.
Expected End-user impact: During this time, forms utilizing the Secure File Submission Service will experience a temporary disruption.

Expected End-user impact: During this time, no end-user impact is expected. The account login behavior may change as idle sessions may be terminated.

Global CenturyLink internet Outage may affect access to some FAU services

Global CenturyLink internet Outage may affect access to some FAU services such as Workday and Duo Mobile. It appears to be impacting Comcast/Xfinity customers with some services.

We are monitoring the situation and will update as soon as more information is available.

Parking Server Certificate Error

Due to a problem with the Parking servers site https://parking.fau.edu is not accessible. We are working to resolve is issue and expect it to return to service in the next hour or two.

Research Computing Cluster Logins

A bad fiber line on the Jupiter Campus is affecting the Research Computing equipment performance. The infrastructure team is investigating and during this investigation logins and file system operations will be impacted for short periods of time. We will update this post as we learn more.

[RESOLVED] Zoom

Zoom services appear to be restored at this time. Zoom is in the process of applying a nationwide fix and it appears FAU’s service has already been restored.

Zoom sign-in issues

Zoom is experiencing intermittent issues where users may not be able to sign in. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.

Aug 24, 10:58 Update – We are in the process of deploying a fix across our cloud. Service has been restored already for some users. We are continuing to roll this out to complete the fix for any users still impacted.

Aug 24, 09:50 Identified – We have identified the issue causing users to be unable to authenticate to the Zoom website (zoom.us) and unable to start and join Zoom Meetings and Webinars, and we are working on a fix for this issue.

Aug 24, 08:51 Investigating – We have received reports of users being unable to visit the Zoom website (zoom.us) and unable to start and join Zoom Meetings and Webinars. We are currently investigating and will provide updates as we have them.

Single Sign-On Update

OIT will be updating the Single Sign-on System to correct a performance issue that was recently discovered. During this window, there will be a short period of time where users receive an error when attempting to login to any single sign-on enabled service.
