OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. May 11, from 3:00AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 05/11/2017 from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Various Banner XE Modules Upgrade
When: 12:00AM – 7:00AM
Affected systems: Banner XE Student Faculty grade entry, Banner XE Student self-service, Banner XE General Self-Service, Banner XE Student Advisor, Banner XE Student Academic history module, Banner XE Communication management module, Banner XE Student API module, Banner XE Ethos API DB module, Banner XE extensibility module, Banner XE DB upgrade modules
Description of maintenance: The Banner XE modules listed above will be upgraded during the maintenance window.
User impact: No end-user impact is expected

Replace faudns with linux VM
When: 4:30AM – 5:00AM
Affected services: External DNS resolution
Affected systems: faudns​
Description of maintenance: OIT is replacing an old Solaris branded computer server that is functioning as faudns (one of three external facing domain name servers)​ with a new VM that is running the linux operating system.
User impact: No end-user impact is expected

When: 3:00AM – 7:00AM
Affected services: Blackboard
Affected systems: bbloracle
Description of maintenance: OIT is applying Oracle PSU to the following hosts/DB’s bbloracle – BBLP

Off Campus Connect (EZproxy) maintenance

On Thursday 5/11/2017, the EZproxy service will be undergoing maintenance from 3-6am.  During this time services normally accessed via https://login.ezproxy.fau.edu or http://ezproxy.fau.edu will not be available.

[RESOLVED] – Single-Sign On issues

**** UPDATE 8:46AM *****

The issue with single-sign on has been resolved and all services have been restored at this time. You may need to close all open browser windows and open a new session before attempting to login.

The user will be presented with an error message when attempting to sign in to services such as Workday, Canvas, Helpdesk, Blackboard, and any other application that is utilizing single-sign on. Momentary Network Connectivity Issues

There were momentary network issues today around 11:30 while the network routed around an equipment failure. All devices appear stable at this time and we will continue to monitor for additional issues.

Upgrade Banner INB/Forms Servers – April 26 from 4:00AM to 5:00AM

Please be advised that OIT will be installing an update to Banner forms tomorrow morning between 4:00am and-5:00am. This update will resolve an issue with accessing Banner that is related to the new version of Java.

Banner will be unavailable during this time and once the update has been installed you may need to clear the Java cache on your computer(s). Below are instructions for Windows and Mac operating systems.

 To clear your Java cache in Windows:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel.
  2. Locate and double click the Java icon in the Control Panel.
  3. Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files.
  4. Click Delete Files.
  5. Select all boxes and click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
  6. Click OK on Temporary Files Settings window.
  7. Click OK to close the Java Control Panel.

 To clear your Java cache in Mac OS X:

  1. Double click your Mac hard drive.
  2. Double click Applications.
  3. Double click Utilities.
  4. Double click Java Preferences.
  5. Click the Network tab.
  6. Click the Delete Files… button.
  7. You are prompted to delete your temporary files for Java. Make sure all boxes are selected with check marks. Click OK.
  8. Close the Java Preferences window.
