OIT Systems Maintenance, Thurs. Oct. 19 from 12:01AM to 7:00AM

Office of Information Technology will be performing routine systems maintenance which includes but is not limited to rebooting Windows servers as deemed necessary, installing critical patches and other health checks on Thursday, 10/19/2023 from 12:01 AM to 7:00 AM during OIT maintenance window. In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Server maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be making some server changes to improve the stability of the load balancers.
Downtime window start: 10/19/2023 5:00 AM
Downtime window end: 10/19/2023 7:00 AM
Affected services: This will impact all services currently being handled by the load balancer from www.fau.edu, banner, talon, OnBase, lmsapps, and other services.
End-user impact: No end-user impact is expected as the change be done one at a time and failing over to the load balancer that was modified.

Server Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be performing server maintenance on several core systems.

Affected services: MyOwl Services, Owl KPIs,Owl Files, Undergraduate Application
End-user impact: During this time, the undergraduate application, MyOwl Services, Owl KPIs, and Owl Files will be unavailable.

BHRIC VMware maintenance
Description of change: Research Computing will be performing maintenance on the BHRIC VMWare infrastructure.
Downtime window start: 10/19/2023 12:00 AM
Downtime window end: 10/19/2023 3:00 AM
Affected services: BHRIC VMware
End-user impact: During this time, VM’s in the “avaliable” state will be able to be logged into with no issues. However, Computers that are powered off or need a recompose will not be available until vcenter come back online

Server Maintenance
Description of change: Moving eGrades Production to Kubernetes
Downtime window start: 10/19/2023 12:00 AM
Downtime window end: 10/19/2023 4:00 AM
Affected services: eGrades
End-user impact: eGrades will be unavailable during this time.

Upgrade OwlForms (OwlAdminPages) to new version of Grails
Description of change: OIT will upgrade the framework to latest version to be up to date with new features and security updates.

Resolved – Banner Services Outage

Update:

Services have been restored and confirmed working. Please report any issues with Banner services to the Help Desk.

Original Post:

We are currently experiencing an outage with our Banner production environment. We are working with our Managed Services Provider to restore the service as soon as possible. At this moment Self Service, Registration, Admin and other Banner Services are not available. In addition, this outage may impact other systems that read information from Banner such as: EZAdvising, OwlDone, etc. We will provide an update once services are restored.

[RESOLVED] TouchNet Systems Maintenance, Friday, October 27th from 3:00 AM to 7:00 AM

The TouchNet payment processing system will be undergoing maintenance -Starting from 3:00am to 7:00am (EST) Friday, October 27th. This affects student payment services (Bill+Payment), as well as all Marketplace Stores, uPay sites and TouchNet ready partner payment services. We expect all systems to be back online no later than 7:00 am (EST) that morning. When the system is back up and ready to go, we will notify you. You may wish to place warnings on your website, or take your store offline. If this scheduled downtime creates a conflict for your operations, please feel free to contact us at FIS@fau.edu for further discussion. Expected End-user impact: During this time all student payment services (Bill+Payment), as well as all Marketplace Stores, uPay sites and TouchNet ready partner payment services will be unavailable during this maintenance cycle.

In addition, the following systems will be specifically impacted:

Server Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be upgrading two virtual load balancer servers to newer versions to improve stability.
Downtime window start: 10/12/2023 4:00 AM
Downtime window end: 10/12/2023 7:00 AM
Affected services: This will impact all services currently handled by the load balancer from www.fau.edu, banner, talon, OnBase, lmsapps, and other services. The impact should be minimal as the services fail over to the other load balancer.
End-user impact: There may be a short interruption of services during the maintenance window. All services should be available after the maintenance has been completed.

Banner Maintenance
Description of change: OIT will be performing maintenance on Banner from 12:00 a.m. until 7:00 a.m. on September 28, 2023. Banner will not be available during this time to allow the Ellucian support team to install several module upgrades/patches/administrative pages to bring FAU up to compliance with the latest Financial Aid releases.

End-user impact: In general, end user impact in the CM22 desktop subnet is not expected. However, this will cause some issues if a user in CM22 is trying to share their screen with a vendor using an unapproved remote management tool.

Atlassian Cloud Login Changes
Description of change: OIT will be updating the Atlassian Access login policies to force all @fau.edu addresses to use Single Sign On and MFA.

Mediasite Update

The vendor will be updating Mediasite to the latest release during the scheduled maintenance window on September 23, between 1:01 AM and 5:00 AM EDT. Extended downtime is not expected. However, Mediasite may be unavailable for brief periods during this time.
